This fizzy cocktail has been around for a little while and certainly makes a Splash on Valentines Day. We think this combination is too good not to sample.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 parts Gin
  • 3 parts Champagne or Sparkling Wine
  • 0.25 parts Simple Syrup
  • 0.5 parts Lemon Juice
  • 1 Small Blood Orange

Instructions

  1. Fill drinking apparatus with Crushed Ice.
  2. Slice an orange wheel out of the Blood Orange, and squeeze the rest into your Boston Shaker.
  3. Squeeze half a lemon into your Cocktail Shaker.
  4. Add the Gin and Agave or Simple Syrup to the Shaker and agitate well.
  5. Strain into glass and top with your bubbly.
  6. Garnish with that blood orange wheel you saved.
  7. (optional) Clean up the massive mess you made.

Notes

If you don't like bubbles, you can top with something lighter like 7-up, or even a dry white wine. Garnish with a wheel for a large glass, or a twist for a champagne flute.
As always; don't forget to wear your Safety Goggles and Red Lab Coat (hides the mess easier).
